Wild Pops uses the standard grid of 5 reels on 3 rows, which can grow to 7 rows and 5 reels at the most. The game has win-both-ways mechanic with between 486 and 33,614 ways. You will relish in the wins that make the symbols that created them pop and are then replaced by new ones. This process goes on as long as you keep winning. You can do the latter with 3 to 5 matching symbols on adjacent reels regardless of whether they align or not.

Apart from the exciting PopWins mechanic, the game uses a special feature. It adds 2 random wilds after every 3rd winning round of Pops. You also get 3 extra lives when you unlock the full board. On top of all these, there is an unlimited increasing multiplier. It grows every 7 Pops and after fully expanding the grid to 7 rows. The max win per spin is €54,705, which is 10,940x bet.

The Design

The game is set on a background of a smudge of colours. The symbols simply pop on the reels. They include card royals and all kinds of Asian-style cartoon animals that look great. There are purple and pink pigs, lions, black crows, foxes, florescent foxes and others. They are colourful, detailed, 3D and ensure superb rounds. The soundtrack is melodic, tranquil and creates a very pleasant atmosphere.

On the bottom of the screen is the Random Wilds bar, to the right of the grid is displayed the win ways number. To its left is the Multiplier bar, which resembles a musical instrument. Its meter lights one hole every time you get a consecutive Pop. If you fill it to the maximum, you will have a fully expanded grid. This will increase the multiplier and give you 3 extra lives.

The spin, Autoplay and bet buttons are next to the win ways on the rightmost side of the screen in green. Creating Pops increases the rows of the reels and ensures exciting rounds. Yggdrasil once again has done fantastic work with the graphics and music of Wild Pops.

Wild Pops Gameplay

The pay-table includes 6 low-value card royals, 7 high-value animals in and 1 super high symbol. There is a wild as well.

To score wins you need 3 or more identical symbols landed on adjacent reels. As long as the matching symbols are on adjacent reels, they will give you wins even if they don’t touch each other. Each win triggers a Pop and makes the winning symbols explode. On the next spin is added 1 more symbol on each reel with winning symbol increasing it by 1 row. The same process repeats and increases the grid’s reels. This is Yggdrasil’s PopWins in-house feature. When Pops end, the grid resets to its default 5×3 size.

The card royals are the low-value symbols. All 6 of them pay equally – 0.10, 0.20 and 0.50 times your stake for 3, 4 and 5 of a kind landed on adjacent reels. The premiums include a fish and a lion that pay 0.30, 0.60 and 1.20 times your stake for 3, 4 and 5 of a kind. The white animal that looks like a fox pays 0.40x, 0.80x and 1.50x bet. The black crow returns 0.50, 1 and 2 times your bet for 3 to 5 symbols.

There is a purple pig that grants wins of 0.80 to 3 times your stake and more. The green animal that might be a fish is second in value from the high-paying symbols. It gives you 1, 2 and 4 times your stake. The yellow symbol that may be a dragon pays 1.20, 2.50 and 5 times your stake.

There is one super high symbol that doesn’t appear on the reels from normal spins. It can land only from Pops. This is the fluorescent blue owl that pays 5, 10 and 30 times your stake for 3, 4 and 5 symbols on successive reels. The wild is some bomb with the word itself. It substitutes for all other symbols and helps you form more wins.

Wild Pops Features / Bonuses

Besides the PopWins feature, which is an intrinsic part of the gameplay, there is another extra. This is the Random Wilds feature that you trigger when you have won 3 times in a row from 3 Pops. Then, 2 wilds will be placed on random positions to the reels. You can have the feature played 2, 3 and more times without limits. Simply get 6, 9 and the respective number of consecutive wins to do this.

The third extra in Wild Pops is the Multiplier. It increases by 1 with each 7 Pops. Since the grid can expand to 7 rows at the most, if you succeed to make it 7×5, the multiplier will also increase by 1. The multiplier is unlimited and you can increment its value without restrictions.

When you expand the grid to 7 rows on the 5 reels to hold 35 symbols, you get 3 extra lives. This is the Bonus Mode. It makes a losing spin turn into a re-spin consuming one of the lives. This means that the grid won’t reset and the multipliers will be kept to the achieved values. The Random Wild feature progress resets when an extra life is consumed.
