Wonderland Protector Review
Wonderland Protector has 5 reels on 5 rows and uses the Avalanche drop system. Every spin starts with 25 symbols cascading onto the reels. You need 3 to 5 matching symbols connected horizontally or vertically to score payouts. Winning symbols explode and leave room for new ones to land on their places. The cascading wins continue as long as you score more wins.
You can join the 3 hero witches in battles against the monsters with wagers from 0.20 to 400 credits per spin. The volatility of the game is medium and its RTP is 96.47%. The max win in the game is 2,500 times your bet. The slot is full of modifiers and extra features. There are Random Destroy and Hero Wild features. The 8 free spins can be retriggered if you defeat the Captain and the Boss in the world.
You can take part in battles in 3 worlds – Dark Forest, Ice World and Fire Lands, fight against 9 Captains and 3 Bosses. You advanced to each new world after beating the Boss and the Captains from the previous ones. The Hero Attack and the Hero Super Attack will help you be more successful. Extra wilds in various patterns will be placed in each of the Green, Blue and Red worlds.
The fantasy theme of the plot is represented with cartoonish graphics. You can see the 3 hero witches on a star pedestal brewing a magical concoction in the Dark Forest. The grid is frameless and stands on the right half of the screen. The background shows a magical garden with greenery and stone structures.
The symbols float in the air. They include various shaped gems and items in purple, green, pink and other colours. All of them appear a bit faded. The free spins take place in a blazing or frozen battleground. You will see the monster dragon with many heads behind the 3 witches. The slot looks like a cartoon series from children’s animations. It is aimed at Asian players and the graphics are created according to this.
Wonderland Protector Gameplay
The pay-table consists of various shaped and coloured symbols. The green, red and blue gem-like symbols with silver frames are the low-value ones. They are associated with each of the magicians and play a major role in most of the features.
The medium-value symbols are the green, red and blue gems decorated with a flower, icicle and skull. Hitting 5 of a kind on any of these pays between 0.40 and 15 times your stake. The purple gem with the star and the wild are the two most valuable symbols of all that return 100x bet for 5 of a kind. The scatter is the star symbols with the ‘S’.
To win you need 3 to 5 matching symbols to connect horizontally or vertically. Wins trigger avalanches and let you get paid multiple times from chain reactions. Once you fail to score a win, the avalanches stop and you start a new spin.
Wonderland Protector Features / Bonuses
Wonderland Protector is packed of features. One of them is the Random Destroy Feature. It triggers by chance after any losing spin in the base game. You will have selected one of the hero witches. Then, all instances of symbols from the low, middle and high-paying ones associated with it will be destroyed. Exceptions are only the wilds and scatters. A new avalanche will fill the empty spaces on the grid and ensure you great odds for getting more wins.
The Hero Wilds Feature activates in the base game and free spins. This happens whenever you land a winning combination of any of the 3 medium-value hero symbols. Then, all other instances of the same symbol on the grid that aren’t part of winning combinations turn into wilds. This rules for the current spin sequence only.
It may take you some time to trigger the free spins, which you do by landing 3 or more scatters in a spin sequence. This triggers 8 Free Spins, which include 3 worlds, 9 capitals and 3 bosses.
You will be taken into a second screen with a world selector to chose in which world you prefer to fight first. These are the Dark Forest, Fire Lands or Ice World. You will be taken to another screen and its left side changes to a battleground with 3 Captain monsters. Each one of them has its own damage meter bedside it. In front of the screen on the right are the 3 magician heroes with their Hero meters below each.
Your aim is beating the three Captains and then the Boss to advance ahead to the next world. To beat them you have to score wins with low and medium-value hero symbols. This places 2 features at the disposal of the three heroes to use and damage the monsters. The features are
Hero Attack – any winning combination scored with low-paying symbols damage the monsters. This also charges the Hero meter of the hero with the matching colour to the winning combination;
Hero Super Attack – it is activated once the Hero meter of any hero is fully charged. The feature inflicts extra damage to the current monster;
The Captain monsters have 15 health points each, while the Boss monster has 105 health points. They have to be rid of all of them to be fully defeated. Any attack or super attack reduces the monster’s health points by 1 to 4 points. Once you defeat all Captains, you will be taken to fight against the Boss in the current world. If you succeed to beat the Boss, you will progress to the next world and be given a retrigger with 8 more free spins.
Each world rewards you with extra wilds for an eliminated Captain. You will have a friendly owl picking the wilds up and positioning them in specific patterns. The pattern of the wilds depends on which world the battles are set in as follows:
Dark Forest – Green World – Spreading Wilds: If you kill the captain, you will win spreading wilds to random positions;
Ice World – Blue World – Heavy Wilds: If you eliminate the captain, you will win one stack of 2 wilds. They will be placed on random places;
Fire Lands – Red World – Random Wilds: If you defeat the captain here, you will win 2 to 4 single wilds. They will be put by the owl to random positions on the reels;
Wonderland Protector looks and plays almost like a video game. There are several exceptions and one is that you advance through your result in the rounds on the reels. Avalanches, extra wilds and other boosters will help you reach far ahead and win big. The game is basically a modified Wild Worlds by NetEnt adapted to the Asian market. If you like this type of hybrid slots, you can try it. It is planned for the beginning of July 2020.
