The sequel of the Valley of the Gods popular game is here. Yggdrasil released it on the 24th September 2020. The game immediately became a hit among players. Its unusual setup and features make it unique. The second version is here with a lot of changes and similar boosters.
The key to getting big wins in Valley of the Gods 2 is scoring consecutive wins. This gives you respins and unlocks the blockers expanding the grid. It also results in more win ways. This works similar to the first slot. The features are rewarding and give you extra lives, expanding wilds and an increasing win multiplier.
Valley of the Gods 2 is a sequel to the loved by many slot with a completely different layout and design. Instead of 5 reels and a rectangle shape of the grid, you have the 1-2-3-4-5-2 format. There is 1 symbol on reel 1, 2 symbols on reel 2, 3 symbols on reel 3, 4 symbols on reel 4, 5 symbols on reels 5 and 2 symbols on reel 6. The rows can expand and change their configuration. There are as many as 240 ways to win in the default mode.
To get a win, you need 3 or more of the same symbols to appear on adjacent reels starting from the 1st one. By landing multiple wins on a reel, the wins get multiplied. You can play with wagers from 0.10 to 100 credits per spin. The RTP of Valley of the Gods 2 is 96%, which is just at the standard. The hit frequency is 20%, which means you will win once every 5 spins on average.
There is a respin feature that you trigger and prolong via consecutive wins. The other modifiers are the extra lives, the increasing multiplier and the fully wild reels. You can unlock the blocker tiles by getting a win and a scarab will do the work for you. On a fully expanded grid, the win ways increase to 20,160. Then, the layout becomes 3-4-5-6-7-8. The jackpot win per spin is €548,100 or 5,481 times your stake.
The Egyptian theme is used in the sequel like in the original slot. You will visit again the mystical desert valley. You will see ancient Egyptian temples and palm trees on the background. On the reels, there are the card royals from 9 to A and higher-value ones. These are Anubis, Bastet, Sobek – the God of Strength and Power and Horus. The wild is Cleopatra. On the left of the grid are 3 scarab patterned blocker tiles. They are for the 3 features and each has a Life, Wild or Multi sign.
The colours are bright, sunny and saturated. There is a lot of yellow and sandy on and around the reels. The scarabs to the left get illuminated with their own lights upon activation. They glow in turquoise, gold and fiery. The soundtrack is oriental exotic and Egyptian. It is sometimes slow, others – fast in sync with the action on the reels.
The paying symbols include 9, 10, J, Q, K and A cards at the low end. The premiums are the God of the Sky Hous, Anubis, Sobek and Bastet. The cat goddess is the most valuable of all and it pays 2, 4, 10 and 20x stake for 3, 4, 5 and 6 in combinations.
The wild is Cleopatra, which substitutes for all. Once it lands, this symbol covers the whole reels and stays there until it takes part in a paying combination.
To score wins you need 3 or more matching symbols landed from left to right. They have to be on adjacent reels starting from the 1st reel. The default 1-2-3-4-5-2 format offers up to 240 ways to win. The fully expanded 3-4-5-6-7-8 setup grants up to 20,160 ways.
There are plenty of bonus features to entertain you. One of them is the Respins feature, which you trigger by getting a paying combination. The respins continue as long as you keep creating wins and end once you fail to do so.
On the reels, you may have noticed 16 positions that are covered by blockers with a relief of a scarab on them. Hitting a paying combination releases a white scarab and it destroys one of the blockers. With more unlocked blockers, the number of win ways rises. They can reach a maximum of 20,160 ways in the best case. On non-winning rounds, the reels reset and offer 240 ways to win.
Destroying all available blockers with paying combinations activates the Scarab Collections. All white scarabs that are left will turn into red, yellow and blue scarabs. They are collected for the following 3 features. If you crash all blocks, you will trigger the Win Multipliers, Wild Reels and Extra Lives.
After you destroy all blockers, you will win 1 extra life. Scarabs will emerge from the winning red symbols. They will be collected for the Extra Lives feature. With every 5 collected red scarabs, your lives collection increases by 1. As long as you collect scarabs, you will continue to gather extra lives. These are actually respins on losing rounds. When the lives end, you will have no more respins.
After all the blockers are destroyed on the grid, the scarabs pop from winning purple and green premiums. They are collected for the Wild Reel feature. For every 5 yellow scarabs you have collected, you will win 1 wild reel. The wild reel remains such until Cleopatra becomes part of a win or the respins end. Collect yellow scarabs to win more wild reels.
The final extra in the game is the Win Multiplier feature. Once you destroy all blockers, scarabs will emerge from winning symbols. Then, the blue symbols will be collected for the feature. For every 5 blue scarabs you have collected, you will increase the multiplier by 1. The more wins, the more scarabs you will have and the multiplier will increase higher and higher. In the end, new multipliers are applied to the next respin.
If there are not more wins on a respin, 1 life is used to keep the feature going. When you run out of lives and no wins are created, the respins end. Then the grid resets to its default 1-2-3-4-5-2 format and starts from the beginning with 240 win ways.
Valley of the Gods 2 has some innovations compared to the original game. These include more ways to win andexpanding wilds. The gameplay is a bit complex at the beginning and it may take you a while to grasp what’s going on. If you like the original super hit, give a try to the sequel after its release and may riches of Egypt find you!
